Alweer voor de derde keer presenteert de Willem de Kooning Academie haar eindexamen in een glossy magazine, genaamd "De Krooning".
Dit magazine is enerzijds een portret van het eindexamen 2007/2008 en anderzijds toont het de diversiteit van het aangeboden onderwijs in zijn volle breedte aan onze academie.
Uiteraard past het ons allereerst om de afgestudeerden hartelijk te feliciteren met het succesvol afronden van hun opleiding. Net waren jullie nog 'onze' studenten, en nu worden jullie onze collega's: kunstenaars en ontwerpers. Wij wensen jullie veel succes met jullie carrière na dit eindexamen.
De afgestudeerde kunstenaars en ontwerpers uit deze catalogus tonen wat er allemaal mogelijk is als je de door de academie geboden kansen weet te benutten; de kansen die ontstaan door bundeling van artistieke disciplines en beroepen, de onderlinge samenwerking en kruisbestuiving van zoveel ideeën en opvattingen, verzameld in een gebouw vol werkplaatsen en studio's.
We hopen en vertrouwen dat deze afgestudeerden de volgende fase van hun ontwikkeling, het zelfstandig beroepsmatig functioneren, goed aankunnen.
En wij hopen de studenten nog veel tegen te komen: bij tentoonstellingen, in recensies, bij BNO-meetings, bij pitches, op televisie, als gastdocent, als oud-leerling.
Want voor allen geldt dat zij nu klaar zijn om vanuit hun opleiding en beroep, maar bovenal vanuit hun individuele oorspronkelijkheid, een stempel te drukken op de vormgeving en waardigheid van ons alledaagse leven.
Een alledaags leven dat niet alleen het individu dient, doch ook verantwoordelijkheid in zich houdt ten aanzien van de samenleving in de breedste zin van het woord.
Laat ons niet voor Aap staan!

For the third time in succession Willem de Kooning Academy presents its final degree students by means of a glossy magazine, called "De Krooning".
This magazine gives an overview of our final degree show 2007/2008, while it also shows the diversity of the curriculum offered in the broadest context at our Academy.
First, let us start by warmly congratulating all graduates upon the successful completion of their course programmes. Quite recently, you were still ’our’ students, and now you have become our colleagues: artists and designers. We wish you all the best of luck in your further careers after this final examination.
The graduated artists and designers from this catalogue clearly show us the various options available, if you manage to seize the chances offered by the Academy; chances that arise by a combination of artistic disciplines and professions, by the mutual collaboration and cross-fertilization of numerous ideas and notions, gathered in a building filled with workshops and studios.
We hope and trust that these graduates are well-equipped and ready to meet the next stage in their development, an independent professional position within their discipline.
We also hope to meet them again many times after today at exhibitions, in art reviews, at the association Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers meetings, at pitches, on television, as guest-lecturers, as ex-student.
Because they are all ready now to leave their mark on the design and dignity of our everyday life, based on their education and profession, but above all relying on their individual talents and originality.
An everyday life that does not only serve the individual human being, but which also bears responsibility towards our society in the widest sense of the word.
Please, don’t make us look like Monkeys.
